Emeritus Professor, Microbiology & Immunology Northwestern University
Stephen D. Miller, PhD, is the Judy E. Guggenheim Research Professor of Microbiology-Immunology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and an internationally recognized expert in autoimmune disease pathogenesis and regulation. Dr. Miller has advised biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, contributing to three new chemical entities through phase 3 trials, and serves on NIH and major foundation review panels. He earned his PhD from Pennsylvania State University and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Colorado before joining Northwestern in 1981. His pioneering work has advanced understanding of immune tolerance and antigen-specific therapies for autoimmune diseases.
Seminars
- Investigating the key drivers and surface molecules required for Treg functionality
- Highlighting necessity for the cGAS/STING/type I IFN axis for induction of tolerance (via Treg induction) by antigen-loaded PLGA nanoparticles
- Exploring novel therapies that have leveraged these mechanisms of action to regulate the immune response
